John Sullivan’s father (Patrick Brendan Sullivan) was one of the first Irish settlers migrating from Ireland and settling on the Irish Ridge to farm and develop the area. They settled on what is now called Sullivan Lane. Part of his land and another Irishman, John Hyland, donated land to build the first Catholic church in the area St. Mary’s.
