PATRICK CASSIDY

The Utica Observer of last Friday says that Patrick Cassidy, who had lived for a long time on the Irish Ridge, a short distance from Higginsville, captain of the Kate and Nellie, was fatally hurt on Wednesday of last week, when a short distance west of Clyde, by the breaking of the evener , or whiffletree, an iron flying and striking Mr. Cassidy in the side. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, where he died on Tuesday morning last. Mr. Cassidy leaves a wife and six children, and was a hard working, faithful man. The remains were buried in the Irish Ridge Cemetery.

Note: Patrick’ wife was Mary Tyrrell, the daughter of James Tyrrell and Ellen Donley. Mary died before 1906, as she is not listed among her brother James’ survivors in his obit., but her grave nor that of her father James has been located. Mary’s mother and her 8 siblings are all buried in Irish Ridge.

Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
