DURHAMVILLE — Elverton T. Hyland Sr., 68, of Route 46, a Verona town highway department retiree, died Thursday July 30, 1987, at Oneida City Hospital, after being stricken at home apparently with a heart attack. Born in State Bridge, Dec. 16, 1918, he was a son of Josiah and Leah Suits Hyland. He married Doris Lust in Wampsville, July 1, 1951. Mr. Hyland retired in 1980 from the town of Verona Department of Highways. During World War II, he served in the Army in the European and African theaters. He was a life member of the Durhamville Fire Department. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Campbell-Dean Funeral home, Oneida. Burial will be in Sr. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Durhamville Fire Department Rescue Squad. TEC 4 US Army World War II
